AR Tetradrachm (14.08 g) dated year 2 (133/4 C.E.). Tetrastyle façade of the Temple of Jerusalem; within the middle of the Temple interior, the Ark of the Covenant in chest form; above, rosette. Reverse: Lulav thrice bound; to left, etrog. Mild 29 [3 examples cited]. AJC 16c. H-689. Rare. Fresh, well-detailed reverse die; Mint State.

The obverse die of this tetradrachm is the first to name Shim'on, the leader of the new Jewish state. Leo Mildenberg selected this die to illustrate the dust jacket of his book, The Coinage of the Bar Kokhba War. A well struck and fully centered piece. Superb.
