The 1896 Educational series Silver Certificates are at the top of the list in terms of beauty and aesthetic appeal in the entire run of large size U.S. Currency, and the $2 issue is no exception. This exquisite example shows why these notes are so highly valued as works of art in addition to their numismatic appeal, as the engraving details and design elements are incredibly vivid and bold. Original embossing is evident through the holder, and the margins are as broad as is ever seen on this issue. An exceptional piece, with a tiny repaired pinhole in the bottom margin just to the right of center being the only defect that is mentioned solely for the sake of accuracy.
