Lot 4299

1883 Hawaiian Dollar. Sharpness of MS-63. Nicely toned. A few marks here and there. Nice looking coin, indeed, a fabulous looking coin when one considers that these tended to be scuffed about in handling (even when they never reached circulation). This is a very attractie coin. Notice the excellent detail on King Kalakaua's head curls, mutton chops, and moustache. The full Hawaiian Coat of Arms is displayed only on the silver dollars. AKAHI DALA is the Hawaiian for ONE DOLLAR. The national motto was coined (so to speak) in 1839 during the reign of King Kamehameha III, and is today the State of Hawaii motto (PCGS # 10995) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,000.

Realized $3,000
