Lot 3971

1822 Capped Bust Half Dollar. . Overton-115, R3. PCGS graded MS-63. CAC approved. Well struck with nice blue and grey toning. Most specimens of O-115 show die cracks contiguous to the legend, at UNITED STATES and one passes through MERICA leaving a small lump at the center of R and continuing through 50C to the edge below the leaves, as noted here. An impressive MS63 with smooth luster under the toning highlights. Representative sharp strike for the date, as well includes excellent detail in the head and eagle areas of the design. Definitely very choice where objective quality is concerned. Pop 53; 51 finer (PCGS # 6129) .
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,200.
