German States - Hesse-Cassel. Hohlpfennig Brakteat, ND. Schütz-.233. Eschwege. 0.27 grams. Heinrich II, 1328-1376. Gothic "E". From the hoard of Wickenrode (1937). Very Rare. Very Fine to Extremely Fine.

The hoard of Wickenrode refers to the discovery in 1937 of 461 coins found in a ceramic jar during excavations. Wickenrode is a small village just 14 Km. from Kassel. Within this hoard were found 49 examples of coins of Hessen. From the time frame of the coins found, it seems that the coins were buried around 1340.
