Theodosius II, 402-450 AD. Gold Solidus (4.1 g), Constaninople mint, struck 423-424 AD. Scarce type. Helmeted, cuirassed bust of Theodosius three-quarters facing, holding spear and shield. Reverse Emperor in military attire standing facing, holding labarum and globus cruciger; GLOR ORVIS TERRAR. RIC 232. Bold strike, with residual luster. Usual slight graffiti front and back. Choice Very Fine.
