Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (London, struck 1062-1066). North-830; S-1183. 0.85 grams. Edward the Confessor, 1042-1066 AD. Facing Bust / Small Cross type. Central circle, crowned, draped, and bearded bust facing within; +EADPARD REX AN:· around. Reverse: Central circle, small cross pattee within; +SPETMAN ON LVN around. Excellent, clear and even strike, with choice flan and metal. Beautiful, even gray toning, with soft to intense peacock coloring in the lustrous recesses. An especially desirable example of its type. NGC graded AU-55.
