Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (Taunton, struck June 1040- June 1042). North-811; S-1168. 1.12 grams. Harthacnut, as sole King, 1040-1042 AD. Restoration. Arm and Scepter type. Diademed and draped bust left, holding scepter in left hand; +HARÐ CNVT RE: around. Reverse: Central circle, short voided cross within, over center a quadrilateral with pellet finials and center; + BOGA ON TANTVNE: around. Outstanding, crisp strike, on a full flan of choice metal. Artistic, medium to deep smoky tone, with touches of peacock iridesence throughout. Very Rare. A great coin! NGC graded MS-64.
