Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (Thetford, struck c. 1017-1023). Cf. North-784; S-1157 var.; SCBI Cop.-3822. 1.07 grams. Cnut (the Great), 1016-1035 AD. Quatrefoil type. Moneyer, Eadwine. Small crowned and draped bust left, within quatrefoil, cross pattee behind head; + CNVT REX ANGL · around. Reverse: Long voided cross over quatrefoil, pellet at apex of each cusp, arms terminate in trefoils; +ED PIN EON ÐEO spaced around arms. Lustrous, cleanly struck and bold. Excellent flan and metal. Silvery to medium smoky gray color. Rare. NGC graded MS-62.
