Great Britain. Kings of All England. AR Penny, ND (Canterbury, struck c. 1017-1023). North-781; S-1157. 1.01 grams. Cnut (the Great), 1016-1035 AD. Quatrefoil type. Crowned and draped bust left, within quatrefoil (pellet at each apex); + CNVT REX ANGLO around. Reverse: Long voided cross over quatrefoil, pellet at apex of each cusp, arms terminate in trefoils; +DV FSIG TNG RAN spaced around arms. Splendid strike, flan, and metal. Medium silvery to deep smoky gray toning, with luster and hints of blue. A delightful coin! NGC graded MS-62.
