Great Britain. Viking Coinage at York. AR Penny, ND (struck c. 905-910. Northumbria). North-551; S-1006. 1.35 grams. St. Peter of York, 905-925 AD. Phase I coinage. In two lines: SCI PETRIMO, a cross pattee above and below, row of three pellets through center. Reverse: Central circle, small cross pattee within; + EBORACE CIV around. Sharp, with good metal, and lovely deep silvery gray tone, with hints of gold. Scarce, but rare in this superb grade. NGC graded MS-62.
