Great Britain. Viking Coinage. Penny, ND (Danish East Anglia, c.885-915 AD). North-475/1; S-966. 1.29 grams. Alfred, c.880. Group II. Danelaw Moneyers: Central circle, cross pattee within; +EL FR ED RE around. Reverse: Inscription in two lines: SIHUH / NE FEC in upper and lower registers, with pellets across center. Good strike on better metal. Pleasing even gray toning; some russet coloring in the recesses. Very Scarce; one of the finest known. NGC graded AU-50.
