Great Britain. Kings of Mercia. AR Penny, ND (Canterbury mint, struck c. 784). North-340 var.; S-910. 1.10 grams. Cynethrith, Wife of Offa, 757-792 AD. East Anglian mint. Inner beaded circle containing Mercian "M", + CfnedRed REGINA around. Reverse: Quatrefoil with lis at angles; + ETBA on quatrefoil leaves. Clean strike, on somewhat porous metal; the flan a little wavy. Medium to dark brownish gray toning. Extremely Rare. NGC graded VF-35.

A most important Anglo-Saxon issue, struck for this queen of Mercia.
