Ben-Gurion, David (1886-1973) Letter to Abba Eban regarding Israel's need for nuclear weapons and American acceptance of this policy. Typed letter in Hebrew signed "D. Ben-Gurion," as Prime Minister, one page, 7 7/8" x 6 1/8", January 22, 1956, on State of Israel letterhead, addressed to Abba Eban, the Israeli Ambassador to the United States.
Ben-Gurion writes: "I must note that I am rather pleased with your communiqués concerning the awakening of American public figures to our demands for defensive weapons, and with the waves of public sympathy and sup[port, which encompass broad and important circles in the United States, for the fulfillment of our just demands and for enabling the provision of defense guarantees to the State of Israel. Our demands for weapons are becoming more urgent from day to day, and I hope common sense and logic will prevail in the American administration …" Very Fine.
