Johnson (Lyndon B.) 1964 Gold Medal Commemorating Chamizal Treaty. 40mm, 2.4 oz., either 14 or 18 carat gold. Obverse has country names and crossed flags of the U.S. and Mexico. Reverse has "LYNDON B. JOHNSON" above "CHAMIZAL" and "ADOLFO LOPEZ MATEOS / SEPTEMBER 25, 1964" below, with laurel leaves at top and bottom. On September 25, 1964, President Johnson and President Mateos settled a border dispute of 100 years standing. The Chamizal Treaty resulted in the transfer of 630 acres of land formerly in the U.S. to Mexico and 193 acres formerly in the eastern part of Juarez to the United States.
