Henri IV of France (1553-1610) One of the greatest French kings (1589-1610); first Bourbon king of France. He restored stability to a France torn by religious wars, converted to Catholicism to please the French populace (he supposedly said, "Paris is well worth a mass"), and issued the Edict of Nantes in 1598 which gave religious freedom to the Huguenots (Protestants). DS ("Henry") as King, 5¼" x 11½", vellum, St. Germain, 1606 (?). An untranslated document, in fine condition. Matted and framed to an overall size of 12" x 14¾".
