[Lord Nelson] Emma, Lady Hamilton (1765-1815) Best known as the mistress of Lord Nelson. Sheet Music signed "Lady Hamilton / July 19, 1801 [or 07]" at top right corner, 12½" x 9¼", n.p. The music is "Hannam's Collection of Dances &c." The music is matted with an image of Emma and framed to an overall size of 17" x 20¾". Emma was the wife of the British ambassador to Naples when she met Nelson; she became as reviled by the English public as Nelson (who abandoned his wife for her) was revered. After his death in 1805 at Trafalgar, the codicil to his will which included Emma was ignored, and she lived and died in poverty. They had a daughter, Horatia.
Estimated Value $300 - 500.
