Shuttle Program, "Approach & Landing Program" Papers. The Approach and Landing Test Program (ALT) was the precourser of the Shuttle Program. In it, NASA tested the landing characteristics of the Shuttle, the feasability of flying the Shuttle on the back of a Boeing 747 (to shuttle the spacecraft from the West Coast to the East Coast should the Shuttle ever have to land at Edwards AFB instead of at the Cape (as it did on occassion), etc. Once the Shuttle passed this ALT Program, it was cleared to begin flights into space. The consignor was closely involved with this program, hence this lot - which consists of one carton fairly well filled with documents from the consignor's own files. Some is interesting, some may not be - but all will definitely involve what is now a forgotten moment in time in the history of the US Space Program. Usual mixed condition.
