Apollo Soyuz, 1975, "Orbital Training Device" (10x11") This writer is the first one to admit that he doesn't have a clue as to what it is. The device consists of three parts. One is the aluminum with two clear lucite plates that insert into an aluminum base. The plates that show the earth's horizon (hand painted (?) and have engraved elevations up to (and down to) 40 (,000) faint, and side increments of 50,000, 100,000 and 150,000 feet. In the center are two removeable lucite discs, one circular and one eliptical with various gradiations (degrees ?) engraved on them.

ALSO TWO additional lucite plates that insert into the base. Each shows the earth horizon - one has height indicators that read: "200,000, 300,000, 400,000, 500,000 feet" and the other has other lower gradiations. This is a precision device that all you former NASA hands/engineers are undoubtedly familiar with, but which this writer has not seen before. There are no markings on it as to origin or background. Fascinating and possibly unique or a prototype.
Estimated Value $500 - 600.
Ex. the Donald "Deke" Slayton Estate collection.
