NASA EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE MEDAL. This original NASA Exceptional Service Medal was awarded TWICE, and is inscribed on the reverse to: "Jerome B. Hammack, January 12, 1969 AND October 2, 1969". In addition, TWO multicolor Medal presentation certificates (each framed to 16x12.5") presented to Jerome B. Hammack are included., One, signed by Tom Paine, Acting Administrator, NASA, and dated January 8, 1969 was awarded for "his contributions to the success of Apollo 8, mankind's first venture beyond earth gravity into orbit around the moon…". The other is signed by Tom Paine, Administrator, NASA, dated 29 September, 1969 was awarded for "his contributions to the success of the Apollo Program…". ALSO included is the original box the medal was issued in. Unfortunately, the small formal medal and the rosette are missing from the set. A phenominal piece of memorabilia awarded to one of the key players in America's march to the moon.
