APOLLO 8, 1968, ASSORTED MEMORABILIA. Lot of two different pieces of memorabilia including an Apollo 8 Manned Flight Awareness medallion (".carried metal in this medallion on mann's first flight to the moon") that is mounted in a 5x3" card bearing the logo of the Manned Spacecraft Recovery Force, Atlantic, TF 140. The medallion is accompanied by a letter from RAdm. P. S. McManus, Commander McManus, Spacecraft Recovery Force, Atlantic to J. B. Hammack, Landing and Recovery Division, MSC, Houston. In addition to the typed letter, Adm. McManus has written a postscript: "I'm sure Frank would have presented this directly, but somehow nobody thinks to document the contributions that managers make to Flight Awareness". His original envelope is included. ALSO included in lot is a Launch Site Recovery Force certificate (9x11") for Apollo 8, hand-signed by the Commander. An attractive lot.
