Hoplolichas Russian Trilobite. Hoplolichas furcifer is one of the most unusual and rare species of light brown trilobites found in the 450 million year old Laba River basin near St. Petersburg, Russia. This museum quality specimen is 2.5 x 1.75 inches, positioned on a 5x4 inch tan matrix block with a spherical cystoid (related to a crinoid). Hoplolichas furcifer was quite possibly a female trilobite (a more ornamented male was found in the same fossil bed) with two barbed horns extending backward from the cephalon (head), two long spines behind its compound eyes, as well as rows of sharp spines along the center and both sides of its body. Even the tiniest detail is preserved, such as individual calcite lenses of the compound eyes and small bumps or postules scattered on the head and body. This scarcely found trilobite is rarely offered and in great demand for its beauty alone.

Add $20.00 for domestic shipping.
Estimated Value $1,400 - 2,000.
