A Fine Sculptural Study of a Tiger. Japan, Meiji Period, 1868-1912. Said to be by Seiya. The animal advances in an almost stretching pose, which vividly reveals both its supple grace and coiled power held in restraint. Heightening the realism is its gilt, inset glass eyes, and choice multi-hued patina. Rectangular cartouche on belly with maker's signature. Length: 22". A splendid study of this most handsome of the large cats.
Estimated Value $1,350 - 1,850.

Realized $748
