Stanford University Full-color Silk, c. 1900-1920. 6½" x 5" silk showing a left-handed baseball pitcher with the Stanford "S" on his uniform sleeve winding up to fire a fast one to the plate. "Stanford" appears in bright red letters at the top and at lower left is the school seal: "Leland Stanford Junior University, Organized 1891." Pictorial silk illustrations were a prized art form in the early 1900s; many were given as premiums to those who amassed a certain quantity of tobacco coupons. Minor toning around edges; otherwise a fine specimen.
Estimated Value $400 - 600.
