Composite Cased Pair Of French Medium-Size Flintlock Holster Pistols For The Eastern Market. Pistols circa 1780, case circa early-mid 19th century. 8.5".64 cal. octagon to round swamped steel barrels with heavy brass decorative overlay. Locks lightly engraved, one mainspring is broken. Engraved brass furniture. Both stocks have bone fore-end caps. Each have a stress crack at the upper-rear portion of the lock mortise, otherwise solid with approximately 75% remaining brass wire inlay throughout. 14.5" overall length. All steel parts have a thick dark untouched age patina. The box is 15.75" wide x 9.5" deep x 3" high. It is old, but not of the same period as the pistols and fitted with a green velvet interior. Accessories include powder/shot measure, bullet mold, powder flask, patches, and balls.
