English Cased Pair Of Box-Lock Flint Pistols. Circa 1770 by Tompson Davis. 2.75".44 cal. three-stage round steel turn-off barrels with cannon muzzles. Blued, engraved frames marked "T. Davis" on one side and "Oxford" on the other. Stock on one pistol is missing a tiny piece at the lower right edge by frame, otherwise both stocks are solid with simple thin wire inlay outling the contours (100% intact). Normal scratches and dings from years of service. 8.75" overall length. In good working order. Period box measures 12" x 6.75" and has blue velvet interior with areas of fading and some lining replaced over the years. Accessories include powder flask, bullet mold with barrel wrench, brass ram rod, balls, tow, extra flints and leathers. Ref: see Gunmakers of London 1350-1850 by Howard L. Blackmore, 1986, p. 79.
