Roman Imperatorial Period. Julius Caesar, d. 44 BC. AR Denarius, North Africa, traveling military mints, 47-46 BC. Diademed head of Venus right. Reverse: Aeneas walking left, carrying Anchises and the Palladium; CAESAR. Craw. 458/1; BMCRR East 31; Sear II 1402; RSC 12. Good strike, on smallish flan. Unusual brown tone. Venus of better style than typical. Extremely Fine.
