Ptolemaic Egypt. Arsinöe II, wife of Ptolemy II Philadelphos, died 270 BC. With much remaining luster. Attractive style. Gold Octadrachm (27.69 g), Alexandria mint, struck c. 253-246 BC., under Ptolemy II. Veiled head right, wearing stephane and with ram's horn at ear, lotus scepter behind head; I to left. Reverse: Double cornucopiae bound with fillet; APΣINOHΣ ΦIΛAΔEΛΦOY. Troxell, Arsinoe, Group 3, p. 44 and pl. 7, 2; Svoronos 471; SNG Cop. 134 var. (letter). The high relief devices well centered and struck. About Extremely Fine.
