1934-A, $1000 Federal Reserve Note. Philadelphia. . Fr-2212-C. PMG graded About Uncirculated 55 Exceptional Paper Quality. Desirable large denomination bill. Although checking accounts were common in America after 1900, wealthy people still carried large amounts of cash with them or stored money in home safes for emergencies. After WWII, the government began withdrawing $500 and $1000 and larger bills from circulation and destroying them, although to this day they remain legal tender just like any other U.S. currency.
