Lot 3525

1907, $10 Gold Certificate. . Fr-1171. . KL-440. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 A beautiful note, crisp and fresh, with bright colors. The centering is excellent as well inasmuch as the margins are balanced top and bottom, right and left (the side margins are always wider, or almost always so) on large size notes. TEN DOLLARS IN GOLD COIN with, in smaller letters below, PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND. In the days of the gold standard, such notes were known as money substitutes, with the actual metal, the gold, being defined by the various Monetary and Coinage acts as the money. This note, while series dated 1907, was printed over the next 21 years (until the new small size design of the Series 1928 issue displaced it). Signatures are those of Parker and Burke.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.

Realized $2,588
