Lot 2540

1855-S $20 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-60. A hint of natural light golden toning. A satiny specimen with solid credentials for the MS60 grade: ample remaining cartwheel luster enhances the rich shades that grace the surfaces of this attractive early S-mint double eagle coin. Production started out strong in the early years at the San Francisco mint as pent-up demand and a flow of bullion and private-issue gold coins supplied the resources for these magnificent double eagles. Pop 16; 72 finer. (PCGS # 8916) .
Estimated Value $4,800 - 5,000.

Realized $6,325
