Lot 2539

1855 $20 Liberty. AU-55. Light grease streaks on both sides. This is a lustrous example without too many bagmarks. The design features are all sharply impressed by the dies, including full radials in the stars. It is thought that the slanting 5s in the date in 1855 were a special favorite of the mint engraver's James Barton Longacre. Slanting 5s are found on most denominations this year, and on some 1856 issues as well (PCGS # 8914) .
Estimated Value $1,900 - 2,000.

Realized $2,990
