Lot 1229

1800 S-200 R3. VG-8. Slightly sharper with very fine roughness covering the reverse. Traces of fine verdigris show in a few places but there are no notable contact marks. Dark chocolate brown, the obverse lightly cleaned leaving coppery brown highlights on the portrait. The obverse is rather glossy while the reverse is matte. MDS, Breen state IV early, with a sunken retained cud break in the dentils over AT in STATES. An intermediate die state not mentioned by Breen, obviously extremely rare. The date is strong and the legends complete.
Estimated Value $100 - 150.
Ex Thomas Wolf.
