Lot 1225

1800 S-198 R5+. VG-7. Several points sharper with a few light contact marks on the obverse and very fine roughness covering much of the reverse. The notable marks are a couple small pits on the N in ONE and another on the numerator of the fraction. No verdigris. Rather glossy medium brown and chocolate, the obverse darker in the center and lighter near the rim. The obverse is mostly glossy, the reverse less so due to the microscopic roughness. Extremely rare terminal die state, Breen state VI, with a strong cud break at MER. Called VG7 and tied for CC#6 in the Bland census, even higher for the terminal state.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,500.
Ex Copley Coin Co. 8/1959-Dorothy Paschal 1977-Thomas Wolf.

Realized $3,680
