Lot 1161

1798 S-149 R4+ Style I Hair with Large 8. Good-6 Plus. Very slightly sharper but there are a couple faint hairline scratches on the obverse, a minor rim bruise left of the lowest curl, and a dull dent in the hair left of the neck. None of these defects is especially distracting and the eye appeal is decent for the grade. Glossy dark chocolate brown mixed with some medium brown on the reverse. The date and legends are bold. EDS, Breen state I. Called VG7 and tied for CC#9 in the Bland/Breen census.
Estimated Value $500 - 750.
Ex Thomas Wolf (acquired unattributed in 1972).

Realized $661
