Lot 1144

1797 S-136 R3. Fine-12. Choice glossy chocolate brown with lighter brown toning covering the protected areas, especially on the reverse. Very nice for the grade, nearly perfect. Just a few trivial marks, including some microscopic planchet chips inside the wreath, as struck. Rare EDS, Breen state I, before die clashing weakened many of the details. Struck very slightly off center to K-3. The date is bold and the legends are strong except for weakness at ONE CENT. A premium example of this rare die state.
Estimated Value $250 - 350.
Ex John Albright (Gables Coin Shop) 1983-Thomas Wolf.

Realized $805
