Ridgway, Matthew B (1895-1993) U.S. General; he commanded the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II; during the Korean War, he took command of the 8th U.S. Army and turned its morale around. In 1952, Ridgway replaced General Dwight D. Eisenhower as the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe. IPS ("M.B. Ridgway") to Douglas C. Platt, dated "9 Aug 69", 10" x 8", in uniform with a grenade visible. With ALS to Platt, dated July 15, 1969, from Connecticut, regarding sending the photo. Transmittal envelope is signed "Gen. M.B. Ridgway in the return address. Very fine.
