Great Britain. Halfcrown, 1746. S.3695A; ESC-606. George II, 1727-1760. LIMA below bust. Laureate old type bust of King left. Reverse Crowned cruciform shields around central star. A pleasant blue and lilac tone distinguishes this classic which was made from silver seized by Admiral Anson (during his circumnavigation of the globe) and other privateers. The word LIMA celebrated the expedition's successful harassment of the Spanish Colonies in the New World. NGC graded AU-55.
