Great Britain. Halfcrown, 1658. S.3227A. Oliver Cromwell. Draped bust of the Lord Protector facing left. Reverse Crowned shield and the legend PAX QUAERITUR BELLO (Peace is Sought by War!). Exquisitely toned in shades of deep grey and blue, this spectacular coin, graded MS64, is the Terner specimen. All Cromwell Halfcrowns are now regarded as specimens or limited issue patterns but hardly any have survived in this lofty state of preservation. PCGS graded MS-64.
