Lot 3185

1886 $1 Gold Indian. PCGS graded Proof 64 Cameo PQ. Mostly untoned and well struck. A rare choice quality coin for the date, this example is composed of almost enthralling golden color whose reflective surface is untoned, with sharp detail throughout. In light of that, we can also say this piece is nicely struck with extremely full devices on both sides. There is some minor uneveness on the hair behind the ear as regularly seen on the few Proofs of this year that make their way onto the market. A very handsome offering. There is the usual crisp purity of style in James Longacre's design that attracts collectors to the Indian gold dollar series. Only 1,016 proofs struck. Pop 1; 7 finer; 4 in 65; 3 in 66. (PCGS # 87636) .
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000.
Ex: The Brentwood Park Estate.
