Lot 3103

1928 Hawaiian Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64. Old green holder. Popular key Type. A touch of light gold toning on both sides, lustrous and very choice. Designs are by Juliette May Fraser (no relation to Laura Gardin Fraser who did the Grant commemorative half dollar and gold dollar). Juliette May Fraser was an American painter, muralist and printmaker. She was born in Honolulu in 1887 and is no doubt the reason the committee picking the coin's design chose her fine rendition of British sea captain James Cook, "Discoverer of Hawaii." Only 10,000 minted (PCGS # 9309) .
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,100.

Realized $3,565
