Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.01g), "Babylon", struck 325-323 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin. Reverse: Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle; to left, tiny grape cluster, M below; with WΦ monogram below throne. Price 3684. Sharp strike, with faint golden-russet toning, mostly on obverse. The "classic" Babylon type: an "eastern" Herakles rendition in high relief, along with a very stylish Zeus. Choice Very Fine.
