Lot 2590

1843-O Liberty Seated Dime. PCGS graded EF-40. Nice original toning. Scarce date. Extremely difficult to obtain much nicer, the 1843-O is a scarce date above Very Fine, and this has been known for more than a century. The finest reported is a PCGS MS65, by the way, and only a few choice circulated, uncleaned examples like the EF40 offered here turn up for sale each year. In terms of quality, this piece is choice for the grade -- displaying old-silver patina with some luster in the stars. A beauty from a low mintage of 150,000 coins. Pop 2; 4 in 45, 1 in 53, 1 in 62, 1 in 65 (PCGS # 4584) .
Estimated Value $1,500 - 1,600.
