1829 N-5 R3 Medium Letters Reverse. PCGS graded AU-53. Choice frosty chocolate brown with frosty lighter brown toning in protected areas. The obverse fields are satiny while the reverse fields are covered with fine flowlines creating attractive mint luster. Virtually flawless. The only marks are a thin, very light diagonal nick in the field close under the tip of the chin and a small pinprick in the field well off the chin. MDS with the usual incomplete strike along the top of the head and in parts of the wreath. EAC grade EF40 and nearly choice. This is the plate coin for the variety in the Wright book on the cents of 1816-1839 (The Cent Book). A premium example of a popular "Redbook" type.
