1799 Electrotype Copy. Fine-12. The obverse is a copy of S-189 while the reverse was made using a 1798 S-174 cent, thus creating an unknown muling of dies. The surfaces are an attractive glossy medium brown except for splashes of shallow carbon around LIBERTY. The date is strong and the legends are complete. Only a faint trace of the edge seam is visible. We have seen a few other electrotype copies from this improbable die mating, but the vast majority of the electrotypes of 1799 come with the correct reverse.
