Lot 2120

1798 S-170 R3 Style II Hair with Small 8. PCGS graded EF-40. Sharpness VF35 but there is a faint, old diagonal scratch starting in the hair left of the ear ending in the center of the neck. The only other marks are a small nick in the hair over the ear and a tiny rim bruise just right of the date. Slightly glossy dark olive and steel with slightly lighter steel toning on the highpoints. The color is darker than you like to see on higher grade early cents, but the surfaces are intact and there is no verdigris. Nicely struck E-MDS, Breen state II. EAC grade net VF30.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
