1798 S-166 R1 Style II Hair with Large 8. Rotated Reverse. VF-35. Ten points sharper but there is a rim bruise opposite the neck and several rim nicks on both sides, including a strong one just left of the fraction. Very fine vertical hairline scratches are hidden in the toning near the rim before the portrait and there is a dull nick in the field near the lower curls. Attractive glossy chocolate brown with slightly lighter brown tones mixed in on the reverse. Traces of frosty flowline luster remain visible in protected areas. LDS, Breen state VI. An internal cud break obliterates much of the E in STATES and extends into the wreath below, and the reverse is rotated 35 degrees CCW from a normal head-to-foot die orientation.
