Lot 2087

1794 S-64 R5-No Fraction Bar. Fine-12. Sharpness near EF40 but covered with fine roughness that's hidden somewhat under a rather glossy patina of dark chocolate brown and olive. There are traces of waxy verdigris in some of the protected areas, but the major defect for this cent is a strong scrape or dent on the rim under the date, and this dent was strong enough to cause a slight rise on the rim at S-O on the reverse. No other significant marks. The date and legends are strong except for the denominator, which was delicately cut into the die but still shows. The missing fraction bar feature is visible. MDS, Breen state III.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
