Byzantine Empire. Michael VII Ducas, 1071-1078 AD. Gold Histamenon (4.39 g), Constantinople mint. Nimbate facing bust of Christ, holding Gospels, with hand raised in benediction. Reverse: Crowned facing bust of Michael, wearing loros, holding labarum and globus cruciger. SBC 1868; DOC III 2d. Old scratch or mark on obverse; reverse strike a tiny bit soft, but highly lustrous. Extremely Fine / Mint State.
