Byzantine Empire. Constantine X Ducas, 1059-1067. Gold Histamenon Nomisma (4.42 g). Constantinople mint. Christ seated on curved-backed throne, holding book of Gospels, hand raised in benediction. Reverse: The Virgin, nimbate (on right) and Constantine, bearded (on left), both stand facing, as she crowns the emperor, who holds globus cruciger; M above. SBC 1848; DOC III 2; BN 10-11. Especially well struck. Highly lustrous and choice! Brilliant Uncirculated.
